Netflix has a varied lineup this week, with new releases covering romance, crime, family drama, horror and even competitive dance. From Lust Stories 3 and Monster to Irumudi and The Scandal, these movies and shows bring very different stories to your watchlist.
Movies and Shows Releasing on Netflix This Week (13-19 Sep)
1. Lust Stories 3 (September 18)
Four filmmakers return with separate stories examining attraction, intimacy and complicated relationships in present-day India. Vikramaditya Motwane, Kiran Rao, Shakun Batra and Vishal Bhardwaj each bring a different perspective, with an ensemble featuring Radhika Apte, Konkona Sen Sharma, Vijay Varma, Ali Fazal and Aditi Rao Hydari among others. The anthology once again looks beyond simple romance to explore feelings people often find difficult to discuss openly.
2. Zakir Khan: Papa Yaar (September 18)
Zakir Khan turns towards his own family for one of his most personal stand-up specials yet. He looks back at how his childhood view of his father as a strict authority figure slowly changed into an adult appreciation of the lessons, values and memories they shared. The special mixes humour with warm observations about growing up and understanding a parent differently with age.

3. Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (September 17)
The fourth chapter of the Monster anthology revisits the infamous 1892 murders of Andrew and Abby Borden in Massachusetts. Ella Beatty plays Lizzie Borden as a young woman living inside a deeply troubled household where cruelty, repression and resentment shape everyday life. The historic case becomes the centre of a dark psychological drama about family tensions and violence.
4. Not a Stranger (September 17)
After becoming a mother, painter Funda puts her career aside and finally hires Nazlı to help care for her baby. What seems like much-needed support begins feeling threatening when the nanny’s strange behaviour reveals an unhealthy fixation on the child. Funda and her husband İlker soon face the frightening possibility that they have welcomed someone dangerous into their home.
5. Plastic Beauty (September 17)
Talented surgeon Fumi Numata leaves her university hospital after an emergency operation and joins the cosmetic clinic run by famous doctor Rin Tohyama. Fumi arrives determined to uncover what she believes is wrong with the clinic, while Rin believes changing someone’s appearance can restore confidence and emotional well-being. Their opposing ideas turn the workplace into a larger debate about medicine, beauty and what truly helps a patient.
6. Best of the Best (September 18)
Childhood friends Maya and Anjali begin college at UCLA and earn places on its competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team. Their excitement quickly meets the pressure of intense training and a difficult journey towards the US national championship. Hasan Minhaj plays the demanding coach pushing the dancers to prove whether they can handle the competition.
7. Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 Season 2 (September 17)
The Hawkins Investigators Club has barely recovered from defeating the Horde Queen when another supernatural problem begins spreading through town. With Valentine’s Day approaching, ghostly sightings and dangerous hate sprites suggest that the Upside Down may once again be breaking through. The second and final season sends the animated spinoff into one last battle against Hawkins’ strange forces.
8. Irumudi
Plantain farmer Trinadh Rama Kasu shares a close bond with his school-going daughter Manikanta until a series of mysterious deaths among village girls changes their lives. Manikanta discovers something disturbing about the cases but dies before revealing the complete truth, leaving her devastated father determined to find those responsible. His fight for justice unfolds alongside his Ayyappa Deeksha, giving the journey both an emotional and spiritual dimension.
9. The Scandal (September 18)
Lady Cho begins a dangerous romantic game when she challenges notorious playboy Jo Won to seduce a young woman destined to become a concubine. Jo Won raises the stakes by choosing Hui-yeon, a respected widow determined to protect her honour, as his target instead. What starts as manipulation in Joseon society becomes much harder to control once genuine emotions enter the wager.
10. The Doll (September 16)
In 19th-century Warsaw, self-made merchant Stanisław Wokulski becomes deeply fascinated by aristocrat Izabela Łęcka while trying to move into her social world. Their relationship is complicated by class, money, obsession and Izabela’s desire to live with greater independence. The six-part historical drama turns their attraction into a wider story about love and the barriers created by society.
From the intimate stories of Lust Stories 3 to the darker mysteries of Monster, Not a Stranger and Irumudi, Netflix has plenty of fresh options to explore this week.
