It’s never simple to find the woman of your dreams. It’s painful to see the person you care about most fall in love with someone else, especially when that person doesn’t even try hard enough to win her over. Or on the other hand, it is also unfair, if you fall for a woman that you do not deserve.
But love is an intangible emotion that cannot be measured or evaluated. The only consolation is that even our hunky movie heroes can’t prevent their dream women from falling in love with the wrong man. Or falling for the wrong girl themselves. Here is our selection of Bollywood movies where the men got a rather raw end of the love deal.Â
1. Raj (Ranbir) In Saawariyan
Ranbir aka Raj in the movie fell for Sonam Kapoor aka Sakina while Sakina choose Imaan (Salman Khan). Imaan was largely absent for the majority of the movie and his friendship with Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) was marred by his chronic absences. Raj was devastated when Imaan left with the girl. A man who had never attempted to get in touch with the girl he had fallen in love with or bothered to inquire about her well-being was eventually reunited with her. Raj was the one who did not receive a just share of this trade.
2. Raju Awasthi (Jimmy Shergill) In Tanu Weds Manu
Jimmy Shergill’s on-screen personas always have such a depressing quality. He seldom receives the love he lavishes on fictional female characters in movies. This man was treated really unjustly by the Tanu Weds Manu franchise. Raju Awasthi tried everything to retain Tanuja (Kangana Ranaut) in his life in the first half, but she opted for Manu (Madhavan). When she did return to him in the sequel, it was only as a rebound. Poor Awasthi Ji was content with it as well, but Manu later acquired the girl once more.
3. Rohit (Saif Ali Khan) In Kal Ho Na Ho
Rohit did everything to impress Naina (Preity Zinta) who wanted to be with Aman (Shah Rukh Khan). Naina, was a toxic person, who didn’t shy away from body-shaming her own friend and kept making fun of Rohit, who kept being a nice guy to her. Even after rejecting Rohit, Naina starts dating him just because Aman kind of rejected her. Rohit, who definitely deserved a better girl, landed up marrying Naina. Wish Rohit could have said no to Naina!
4. Major Samar (Shah Rukh Khan) In Jab Tak Hai Jaan
We, for one, find it quite difficult to comprehend how Katrina ends up with SRK. She abandoned him to perish on the streets after his accident, but Anushka drove him to the hospital after being hit by a car! This plot was undeniably convoluted. In the end, Major Samar (Shah Rukh) should have chosen Anushka (Akira) without any doubt.
5. Subodh In Dil Chahta Hai
It was clear that Subodh sincerely cared about Pooja. Subodh was a thoughtful and progressive boyfriend who deserved better. He remembered important dates, took Pooja on romantic dates, and tolerated Sameer’s mocking of him. Subodh was stuck-up, the human equivalent of a timetable, and no one ever wanted to be him, date him, or be his buddy. But did he merit such treatment?
6. Aman (Salman Khan) In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Aman was madly in love with Anjali. At multiple occasions, it is made clear how much Aman was committed to the relationship. But, unfortunately, Anjali wasn’t the right girl for him. We fail to understand how Anjali could choose Rahul over Aman. How can someone chose toxic, self-centered, sexist Rahul over progressive, loving caring Aman! In the end, we are happy that Aman broke up his wedding with Anjali, that he shouldn’t have agreed upon in the first place.
7. Manu (Madhavan) In Tanu Weds Manu Returns
Throughout the whole first half of the film, Tanu makes a fool of Manu, only to ultimately commit him to a mental institution. He discovers Kusum, who is actually kind, independent, and modest (although much younger), and files for a divorce. But on the day of the wedding, he chooses his ex-wife, who twice came very close to ruining his life. No man would stay with a narcissistic and borderline abusive woman like her. But what’s this? Manu does.
