The first month of 2023 has been an absolute delight. We saw some great movies and shows releasing on OTT as well as theatres.
The last week of the month saw the release of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, which is already receiving positive reviews. The ticket window appears to have been restored since it is doing well at the box office. But OTT is not far behind.
This weekend, multiple movies are coming out including – Shotgun Wedding featuring Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel; and An Action Hero featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat. Alongside these movies, TV series like Moonlight Romance, Heirs of the Night, and others are also debuting on platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus Hotstar, Voot Select, MX Player, Zee5, and others.
Without further ado, here is a list of top OTT releases this week.
1. An Action Hero
An Action Hero, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat, failed to make a mark at the box office, but it succeeded in revealing fresh sides of the two extraordinarily brilliant performers. Vicky Solanki, the younger brother of infamous mobster and Jat leader Bhoora Solanki, is inadvertently killed in the movie by action hero Maanav Khurana (played by Ayushmann). Khurana commits the crime after declining to play a gangster in the biography because he wants to avoid the “bhai log,” or underworld.

2. Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke
The thriller series Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke tells the story of brave IPS officer Kavya Iyer, who fights insurgents and restores the public’s trust in the rule of law. Along with Sumeet Vyas, Barun Sobti, Chandan Roy, Mita Vashisht, Deepika Amin, and Sandeep Dhabale, Regina Cassandra plays a powerful and devoted IPS officer in the show. The show pays homage to the Indian IPS officers and their noble service.

3. Raangi
The protagonist of the story is the journalist Thaiyal Nayagi. The focus of this action thriller, which was written by AR Murugadoss and was helmed by M. Saravanan, revolves around women. Bekzod Abdumalikov, Anaswara Rajan, and Trisha Krishnan all had significant roles in the movie.

4. The Snow Girl
This brand-new, genre-defying series from Netflix will keep you hooked to the screen right up until the very end. The crime thriller follows a self-assured journalist who is determined to assist a couple in locating their daughter after she goes missing during the Cavalcade of the Magi parade. Unaware of the repercussions, Miren undergoes a difficult task that alters her entire life.

7. Moonlight Romance
A 24-episode romantic fantasy drama from Taiwan – Moonlight Romance. The protagonist of the tale is an immortal matchmaker named Yue Lao/Li Yue (Edison Song), who descended from heaven to take up the position of divorce attorney. He unintentionally runs into Fang Duomi (Amber An), the inventor of the love pheromone perfume patent, who thinks that the substance may be created using scientific techniques. Li Yue finds that Dumoi previously saved her life as they become friends and begins to feel attracted to her.

Mugdha Agarwal, Vikram Bhui, and Tanya Singh Bhatnagar are the main cast members of the pioneering online series. The female characters in the web series reinvent feminism by acting with a demeanor that displays power, independence, and the fortitude to become emotionally vulnerable, in contrast to earlier periods when women felt guilty for selecting themselves.

9. Heirs Of The Night
Heirs Of The Night will transport you into the world of fantasy. The 13-episode series, which is based on Ulrike Schweikert’s novel series Die Erben der Nacht, examines a school for vampires where pupils from various clans develop abilities to thwart Dracula, an ancient evil. The 14-year-old protagonist Alisa (Anatasia Martin) has an unusual and unexplained bond with evil that is revealed through the course of the series.
